Exerceo is a new journal of integrative thinking organised by postgrads from across the disciplines. By focussing through multiple lenses, we hope to be a workshop for cultivating understanding of the complex technical and philosophical issues facing society and academia. The work featured in Exerceo is not intended to be the final word, but to form a conversation aimed at thinking well about the world. The spring 2008 issue of Exerceo is centred on the theme of poverty. We invite articles, commentaries/essays, as well as journalism and photo essays, which explore the interrelated issues of poverty, justice and human well-being. We particularly encourage submissions to endeavour philosophical and theological analysis of the topic under discussion. Topics you could address might include: theories of justice and their impact on arbitrating economic and climate policies
theological reflection on reasoning in immigration and trade laws
music cultures and their expressions of human well-being
urbanisation and its influence on social structures and goals in China
poverty and human dignity through the novel
analysis of dialogues of the "other"
agriculture as technology
Submissions due 1 June 2008.
